Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge

waterfall boxer2

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are
meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and
sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made
whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy
and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes
are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the
trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Rubin fka Alvin
Little Rubin was one of Allaynas babies. Allayna and her pups came to us when they babies were around three weeks old. Rubin was adopted at 9 weeks old to a wonderful person. At 13 weeks of age little Rubin tragically died of mesenteric torsion. The exact reason is a mystery. We will all miss Rubin, but especially his loving "mom" Darlene.

Molly
Molly was a sweet baby girl. I say she was a baby because she was my baby. Molly was actually a very old dog when my parents and I adopted her. She was as sweet as can be. A couple weeks after we got her, she latched herself on to me. I began to love her, as I said before, like my baby. On June 2, 2008 I came home to a very sad situation. Molly had died. She died in her sleep due to a heart attack. There was no indication that she was sick. That’s what really made it hard, but she will always remain in my heart no matter how many dogs I get. She was my baby.

Boss
Boss was a sweet boy of about 7 years old when he was adopted by a loving family. He seemed healthy right up to the end. Sadly, Boss died suddenly after only about 9 months in his home. Boss was a loved member of the family and will be missed.

Harley
Harley was adopted from a shelter by one of our volunteers. For a month he had a happy and loving family life. Then they took him for his neuter and from there things went bad fast. Harley went into renal failure immediatly after his surgery and died within just a few days, despite the best efforts of his family and veterinarian. Harley's family is broken hearted over the loss of such a wonderful boy and he will never be forgotten.

Rafferty
Little Rafferty was only about 16 or 17 weeks old when he came to us. He had a badly injured foot that was going to require surgery to repair it if he was to ever walk, run and play like a normal dog. Surgery was scheduled but before the day came, Rafferty came down with a horrible type of dog flu that he picked up in the shelter It was not parvo, it was actually much worse. He was checked into the hospital and put on IV's and given all the care they knew to do for him. It was not enough. Raffertys little body could not fight any more. Rafferty left us on March 29 2007. People all over from Ohio to Michigan are mourning the loss of this bright, sweet little soul who never had a chance. You see, Rafferty started out in a shelter in Ohio. Our friends at Greater Ohio Boxer Rescue were full so they asked for our help. Of course we said yes. Then everyone went into action. Members of GOBR got Rafferty out of the shelter. He stayed with one of their volunteers overnight. Then a series of nice people transported him all the way from Columbus, OH to Flint, MI. Every single person who met Rafferty felt that special quality about him. His foster mom had him cremated and his remains will be with her forever. Its not much, but it is all we could do. In his short time with all of us, he touched us, he was special and he will be missed and never forgotten by all those he touched. See you at the Bridge little Rafferty
