9/8/09 update: Now that Portia has completely recovered from having her leg amputated we have finally been able to see more of her personality come out. We have learned that she gets along well with most polite male dogs, but would not recommend a home for her with other female dogs. Her favorite toy in the world is a kong and she does not show any food/toy aggression towards the dogs she gets along with. She'll even eat out of the same bowl as her foster brother! She gets around like nobody's business; the missing leg does not hold her back at all. She's very sweet and people oriented and would enjoy spending lots of time in your lap watching TV!
Thanks to all for the finanacial help we got for Portia, she is now on the mend, recovering from her leg amputation. Portia is a nice, friendly and loving girl who can run and play just like any other dog. She is now looking for a loving forever home.
All MMBR Dogs are spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, checked and treated for both internal and external parasites, microchipped and treated for any and all medical conditions that we are aware of.
Sponsors: We would like to thank the MANY people who have come though for Portia in her time of need, including:
Martha Munch
Catherine Watson
Linda Rasch
Margo Marveggio
Kent Brooks
Special Needs: Portia came to MMBR after being hit by a car and then taken to a shelter where she was due to be sold for research.
We took her out and immediately to our veterinarian where it was discovered that the injuries to her hind leg were too much to repair.
She will have her leg amputated soon.
DONATIONS ARE NEEDED FOR HER CARE. ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED.
